“I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.”

- WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY

The quote above is from the poem Invictus. I’m not a big fan of poetry, but I love this poem, esp. these final lines. I do believe that things happen for a reason and that fate does play a part in our lives, but I also know that no matter what happens in life, I will always have a choice. I can choose my own destiny.

I don’t believe in palm reading. I don’t think a palmist can read into the lines of my hand to determine my fate. It’s an interesting practice, but I just don’t buy into it. I did have my palm read once, years ago, by an elderly Vietnamese lady that I took care of in a nursing home. I was straightening up her room when she took hold of my hand and started reading the lines. A couple of the NAC’s were amused because she had read their palms before, and for most of them, the predictions were surprisingly accurate. Apparently she was a palm reader back in her native country.

Anyway, by the time I had met this woman, her English had started failing and she was partially speaking in her native tongue. I kind of had to interpret for myself what she was trying to convey to me. I kinda wanted her to just tell me that I was going to be rich and live a successful life, but the only thing she would discuss was my love line. So apparently sometime in my life I’m going to have to make a choice between two men that are interested in me and I’ll end up picking the second man because he’s “The One”. lol She also mentioned something about earrings, but she started speaking those foreign words again, so I still have no clue what that was about. It’s been 7 years since that palm reading. I don’t know why I’m thinking about it now.

Like the look of your blog – and found you from a google alert set for palmistry…

anyway, you’re right — you are the captain of your soul. There are many forms of palm reading or hand analysis — the one I practice is non-predictive because, like you said, you’re in charge of your choices.

however, like most of us — if we create a habit or behavior (like taking a picture every day) we’re going to improve or create some “grooves” in our brain that make it easier to improve and get better. Likewise, if it’s a “bad” habit – say smoking or eating fried food only every day — is someone really predicting the future when they “forecast” bad health and premature death? Not necessarily.

so you’re hands show us your ‘grooves’ of where you are now, and what gives you joy (and not) and where you’re likely to get the most “bang for your buck” when it comes to applying your skills etc.

But those two guys? Every choice you’ve made between then and now has changed them….you’re love life is up to you.
