Today I was inspired by cookie splash pictures. I did have some cookies on the plate but they kept getting soggy so I stopped using them. I knew that the cookies wouldn’t make big splashes if I dropped them into the cup, so I tried using a small bouncy ball instead. When that didn’t work, I used a ring pop. Shooting splashes takes a lot of patience and I gave up after 10 tries. I’m gonna try this again when I have more time.

The little kid in me was excited when I found these at Albertson’s: Wonka Exceptionals Scrumdiddlyumptious Chocolate Bar and Chocolate Waterfall Bar. The Scrumdiddlyumptious bar is made up of milk chocolate, toffee, crispy cookie and crunchy peanuts and the Chocolate Waterfall bar is made up of swirled milk and white chocolate. I was kinda bummed that the Scrumdiddlyumptious bar didn’t live up to my expectations, but it was still okay. I like the Chocolate Waterfall bar better though.

WHITE CHEDDAR & BACON MAC & CHEESE BITES

1/2 lb. elbow macaroni, uncooked
6 tablespoons butter, divided use
3 tablespoons flour
1 1/4 cups milk
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
8 ounces finely grated sharp white cheddar cheese, divided use
2 eggs
1/2 cup finely chopped cooked bacon
2/3 cup finely crushed white cheddar crackers

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Butter the cups of 2 (24-cup) mini muffin pans.

Cook macaroni according to package instructions; drain and reserve. Meanwhile, melt 4 tablespoons butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat; whisk in flour and cook 1 minute. Whisk in milk, salt and pepper, and bring mixture to a simmer, whisking frequently. Reduce heat to low and stir in 6 ounces cheese until melted – about 1 minute. Whisk eggs together in a large mixing bowl; gradually whisk cheese mixture into eggs until combined.

Stir macaroni into cheese sauce, and divide mixture into muffin cups. Sprinkle remaining 2 ounces of cheese over the tops, followed by bacon and crackers. Melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter and evenly drizzle over the tops. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.

It’s not everyday I get to photograph fireworks, so I decided to take advantage of the 3rd of July celebration at Liberty Bay. The fireworks were okay, but the atmosphere sucked. I knew it was going to be crowded at the waterfront, but I was just not ready for my “I hate people” mood. People were constantly walking in front of my camera and several times my tripod was kicked, nearly knocking the entire thing over. Does nobody watch where they walk anymore? My DSLR isn’t invisible y’know. Oh and the best part was the creepy ~~molester~~ man that snuck up behind me without me knowing it. So picture this, there’s my camera + tripod, me, a man squeezed behind me, and the pavillion. WTF psycho, get the hell out! He tried talking to me but when I ignored him he finally left. It really skeeved me out. I’m sticking to my usual routine of PO fireworks from now on. I’m hoping my pictures tomorrow will turn out better than the ones I took today.

Kandi asked me to paint the Relay for Life Motto on her heart. I’m not much of a painter. The perfectionist in me can point out all of the flaws…but still, I’m pretty damn proud of my sign.

At Relay for Life there was a contest where you make a birthday cake out of cardboard. This was our team’s cake. Even though she’d hate me for saying this, Lynn looks awful cute dressed as a cake! We had the best cake, but we lost to a girl in a prom dress. Apparently, you win the contest by the most donations given, not by the best cardboard construction. I don’t get it, but whatever. The ACS committee asked to have our cake for a parade, so in the end, we kicked ass.

Day 2 of Relay for Life. I walked the track for 3 hrs. straight this day. I’m never going to do that again. I took a 15 min. rest after my walk and when I got up I was so sore. I need to stick to my usual 2 hr. power walks from now on.
